"WE MAKE EVENTS"/"RED ALERT RESTART"

"This is a National call to action on Tuesday, September 1st, 2020, imploring the US Congress to pass the RESTART Act as quickly as possible, offering economic assistance to those in the live events industry". Venues around the country will be flooding their facilities with red lighting, from 9pm to midnight. This is also being supported by the International, and is NOT just limited to venues and facilities with union labor. Hotels, conference centers, non-union theatres, etc. will be participating.

Bro. Weiss and the folks at Great Lakes will be lighting the Huntington and Seagate, and are asking for volunteer assistance in this. If interested, he asks you to be at the Huntington at 4pm on that day.

Also, Great Lakes is offering a FREE LED lighting fixture to all stagehand friends who'd like to participate personally and light up their home in red. Contact them at:
419/534-2260
info@greatlakessound.com

I hope many of us take advantage of Great Lakes' offer for the free lighting, and that many people show up at the Huntington to show your support and volunteer your time.

Thank you!

IATSE Statement On Met's Lockout Of Local One Stagehands

On Monday, Metropolitan Opera management announced that it plans to lock out union stagehands represented by IATSE Local One at midnight. These workers have been furloughed since April, and the Met's management is demanding these workers take an extremely unreasonable 30% reduction of earnings for an indefinite period of time, and half of that (15%) reduction "in perpetuity" in exchange for short term relief payments.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FROM THE INTERNATIONAL

Earlier this year the International recognized the financial impact on our Locals and allocated $7.0 million for the waiver of all local union per capita obligations for the 2nd Quarter.

Additionally, $2.5 million was contributed to various charities to assist individual members in need.

On November 25, 2020 the General Executive Board met and discussed what further support could be offered to Locals whose members have not only been impacted dramatically in 2020 but will continue to be during the first half of 2021. A waiver of the 1st and 2nd Quarter per capita obligations for 2021 is available for those local unions and is anticipated to result in another $6.0 million of support for our local unions.
